Pitta dosha. Pitta is the energy of digestion or metabolism(how well you break down foods) . it is made up of fire and water which governs not just digestion and metabolism but absorption, assimilation etc. pitta also controls certain hormones that are linked to your appetite pitta promotes intelligence and understanding.

Those having a predominance of the Pitta principle have a fiery nature that manifests in both body and mind.
Physical Characteristics of pitta dosha
- Pittas are usually of medium size and weight. Baldness or thinning of hair is also common in a Pitta.
- Those having predominance of pitta have an excellent digestion.
- warm body temperature.
- sleep soundly for short periods of time.
- strong sex drive. The nose may be sharp and the tip tends to be reddish.
- Pittas possess also a strong desire digestion, energy that is rich, and also a lustrous complexion when they are in balance.
When out of balance, Pittas may suffer from excessive body heat , burning sensations , jaundice. common symptoms like skin rashes, heartburn, peptic ulcers, inflammations or irritations such as conjunctivitis, colitis or sore throats could be found.

Make choices that are cooling, sweet, and stabilizing in order to balance the pitta who are hot, pungent and sharpness and are penetrating.

Allow some free time everyday to yourself.
Do not create unnecessary time pressures for yourself.
Favor foods that are sweet, bitter and astringent.
Eat more cooling foods such as cucumbers, sweet fruits, and melons.

Keep away from colors that absorbs much of sun in summers.
Favor aromas that are cooling and sweet. For example: Sandalwood, rose, jasmine, mint, lavender, fennel, and chamomile.
Nutritional Guidelines for Pitta dosha
Since Pitta dosha have hot body temperature you should take cool foods and liquids. Foods with sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes are good for you. Avoid pungent, salty, and sour foods.
Dairy food can be helpful in reducing the heat. Yogurt, ghee, butter or milk, these all are good for pitta.
Take all kind of sweets except molasses and honey.
Sunflowers ,olive and coconut oils are best to pacify pitta. Avoid oils that have heating qualities like sesame, almond, com oil
Grains like rice, what, barley are best to reduce pitta. Take Brown rice, coen, rye, millet less in diet.
Give preference to sweeter fruits like melons, cherries, mangoes, grapes, pineapples, orange, plums over sour fruits like grapefruits, berries and apricots.
Any vegetable that is too sour or hot will aggravate pitta. Avoid Tomatoes, radishes, onions, chilies, garlic and raw onions. While other vegetables like cucumbers, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green leafy vegetables, green beans, pumpkins, broccoli, cauliflower, helps in calming pitta and are really good for pitta dosha.
Most nuts and seeds have heating qualities which is not good for pitta.
Take seasonings which are soothing and cooling. These include coriander, fennel, saffron, cilantro, cardamom. Use hotter spices such as cumin, black pepper, clove, salt, and mustard seed sparingly.
In non-vegetarian food white meat are preferable like chicken, pheasant, turkey etc: while red meet like beef or seafood, and eggs Pitta should take less often.
